  1. Last year, after having painstakingly wrapped all of our loose change, we brought our rolled coins to the bank. They promptly said, ‘we don’t take rolled coins any longer.’ I stood there with this ‘you have got to be kidding’ look on my face. They unwrapped each roll, recounted our coins (I don’t stick slugs in the middle!) and gave me bills. I no longer keep change. Used to be one of my cheap thrills, too….

    1. They may not take it rolled but they’re required to take it, it’s part of their charter, I believe, although they can charge fees for doing so… in NYC we just passed a law that stores have to accept cash – there were growing numbers of chains that didn’t take it and there are just too many unbanked NYers….
