Well, in all fairness to them, a recent virologist’s article that has been getting a lot of press (link below) suggests that walking past them out of doors is pretty low risk. However, I think there’s also a value to social signalling – showing others that you take it seriously and mean them no harm. And walking around in groups with no mask and no attempt to maintain distance doesn’t convey that degree of civic engagement. so in spite of the lowish risk, I think they do us harm.
