We walked down to the new Moynihan Train Hall, just for something to do – our first time seeing it. It looked airy and bright and new, built in the old Central Post Office building across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. No doubt pandemic emptiness contributes to the cavernous architect’s-model look of the place. Of course, the escalators lead down to the same grimy old train platforms but at least they bypass Penn Station. However, it appears to only serve the Amtrak trains – not so much help for LIRR or NJ Transit passengers as yet.

All looks incredibly clean!
Yes, well, it’s brand new and pandemic-empty. It will be interesting to see how it weathers the return to normalcy and travel.
