I think, because I had a supervisor who spoke to you by jabbing her pen in your face, I am loathe to carry on with people who point at me while talking. I asked a higher-up if I could just grab the pen out of her hand. He suggested he would talk with her. He did and the jabbing stopped, but it still sticks in my memory.
At least it only stuck in your memory!
