This is probably why we used the Garden State Parkway instead of the Turnpike, except if we were going to visit my aunt and uncle. Then we had to use the Turnpike.
Yeah, depends whether you’re staying close to the coast or more inland. We seem to use the Turnpike for visiting folks in the Camden area and the Parkway for going down the Shore. On this trip home from Ventnor we took the Parkway till about Metuchen before switching to the Turnpike.
Metuchen is very close to where I lived. My aunt lived in Jersey City. The parkway tollbooths on the weekends headed to the shore…..! Which is what got me in the condition I am today. It was a wonderful time, though!
My brother actually lives in Metuchen and the Parkway has finally got EZPass so we’re not crawling into toll booths and scrounging for dimes anymore (update: my wife informs me they’ve had EZPass for a while now; it’s our rental cars that lacked them).
