  1. i cringe at all the people touching stuff. the subway has to be the dirtiest place in the city, yet people (tourists mainly) hold on to railings, and just about everything. ugh.

    1. I’m a born and bred NYer (been here over 50 years now except for a year or two abroad a few times). I’ve always held on to railings and straps in the subways and buses and anywhere else without a problem (that I know of). Why would you expect them to be any dirtier here than anywhere else? Dirt is dirt and people are people.

      1. I’m a germophobe lol. More people that touch something, the crazier the bacteria. That is the daughter of a scientist talking though – I was raised to notice stuff like that :p

        1. Good luck with the move to NY, then – germ city :-). Keep in mind, a very high percentage of all of us is various types of germs and microbes living in, mostly, symbiotic relationships.
