Jimmy Carter

I took this picture of Jimmy Carter, the first president I voted for on a cell phone in 2015 on a business trip. While we waited for takeoff he went through the plane and shook everyone’s hand. Carter stood for everything our incoming president opposes: decency, justice, humanity, dignity. In this picture he had stopped to chat with a young soldier sitting in the row in front of me and let him know how important his service was. After the president left I heard the soldier asking, “who was that old man?”
