Park Portrait

104th St and Central Park West, New York

This man was having an intensely relaxing smoke with his knee up in an almost yogic position. When I asked to take his picture he threw the cigarette away on the ground and took this pose. After I’d thanked him and showed him the picture he found the cigarette and returned to his smoking.

  1. I like the casual look and posture of the man on the bench. He seems so relaxed and at ease. The colours are great – very earthly and with a limited palette. Adds to the feeling of down to earth.

    1. Thanks. It’s interesting that he was probably more relaxed looking when he virtually jumped to attention for my picture, than he had a moment previously. The lighting and colors were really just the good luck of the time of day, sitting in the long shade of early dusk. Thanks for looking and commenting!
