    1. It’s always with me and I am looking to sell my Nikon equipment. I initially bought it with the kit 18-55 and 55-210. These days I have mostly been shooting with the Sigma 30mm f2.8 and switching to the 18-55 only when I really need to. I have also been experimenting with the Sigma 19mm f2.8 in the subways (underground). The camera absolutely suffers from all the issues I mentioned in my various blog posts but I have, for the most part, simply gotten used to these shortcomings: knobs can easily be knocked about that change the EV compensation or the ISO to something I don’t want. The 30mm Sigma doesn’t wake up and regain focus anywhere near quickly enough and I’ve missed pictures because of it – to compensate I tend to walk around with my finger on the shutter button to keep it awake all the time and run the weak batteries flat very quickly. The leather (well, rubber or plastic, really) cladding is coming off the entire right side of the camera and authorized repair people have told me to leave it be.

That said, I don’t regret the purchase and use it all the time. It has excellent image quality and it’s small and light with most of the features a serious photographer would be interested in having. I believe Olympus and Fuji both have competitive offerings that are worth a look and they both have much better lines of lenses available, tho’ I prefer the larger sensor on the Sony. Assuming you’re interested in the same things I am, I would simply say, spend a little time with it in hand and see if it falls comfortably to your hands (I think the 6 lacks the offending knobs that I have trouble with). If it’s comfortable in your hands and the lenses you need are available (and affordable) you’ll not be disappointed. Good luck and happy shooting!

      1. Thanks, I am juggling the nex6, Fuji x100 and the new Canon G15 or G1x, I have permission from the wife which is a major coup
        All the best
