      1. Thanks so much – I picked up a book by Tufte in the library and thought I must go back and borrow it one day – it was mesmerising. But when I returned it was no longer on display & I’d forgotten the author and the title! This was he. I used to create a lot of disease maps and would labour over them but the creativity of Tufte in illustrating data is amazing.

        1. He is a mazing. My wife bought me a couple of good books as a gift a few years ago and they’re beautiful. I continue to believe, however, that the occasional pie chart can be usefully employed.

        2. Like it Adam :> – I had a Monday like that a couple of weeks ago when the boss said – “just do me a pie chart with those numbers will you?” Cool easy says I. On Tuesday he was “What do you mean actual vs projected?” “Well this is the Pie with the Actuals and this is the Pie with the Projected.” By Thursday he said “y’know what I’d like to show how the spend goes up you know? Over time?” “A trend graph?” says I. “Yeah – one of those” By Friday is was “Y’know I’d like the different bits of spend split out.”Oh a stacked column?” “OK..” By the next Monday – “You know that Pie Chart?…”
