Thanks. I did have to do a portrait shoot this week and figured out 1 or 2 things. Wound up shooting the flash through a 40″ diffuser which seems to have given me the big soft light I was looking for. Will probably post 1 or 2 images from that shoot in the next week or so…
We didn’t have all that fancy flash stuff at the academy… Used to turn the lamps around and let them shine into a white reflector-umbrella for a softer lighting… 🙂

Yes. I tried that first, unsuccessfully, then broke down and bought a 3rd-party flash but I confess I’m seriously misusing it and have a lot to learn.
