One Capture

87th St and Columbus Avenue, New York

I’ve started working with a trial version of Capture One as a potential replacement for Lightroom. It has a reputation for offering better rendition of Fuji files and offering finer control as well as managing memory and resources better. It is, of course, painful to move away from a habitual workflow developed over years and find the tools I need, operating in a largely different development paradigm. We shall see. Here is the first new image imported and developed entirely in Capture One.

    1. It’s kind of hard to evaluate because the awkwardness of figuring out how to do things I’m accustomed to doing quickly and easily is detracting from some of the hard to measure benefits but I aim to give the trial a full chance before deciding. It does seem to have better shadow and highlight recovery and better control over clarity and color management.
