See the last post for the long-winded description of these scanned Kodachrome pictures my father took in the 1950s:
I I can’t quite place the top image – I thought I saw the outline of Whitely’s in Queensway in the background but a quick look at Google maps reveals that’s wrong. And the bottom picture provides a nice street vantage of St Paul’s Cathedral.
Update, thanks to Agnes Ashe: top photo is the Cenotaph and St Paul’s from Ludgate.
Your father was a street photographer, too? So fun to see these photos.
And, second is St Paul’s from Ludgate. The number 11 bus route still goes that way too.
Top picture is the Cenotaph on Whitehall. Pretty much the same today only a lot, lot more traffic!
Thanks! We thought it might be the Cenotaph but I remembered it larger… and I couldn’t find that approach to St Paul’s wandering via Google Maps.
You’re welcome.
