    1. It’s not the young guy I’m worried about – it’s me! Fer chrissakes can’t he see how old and at risk I might be? In NY you’re required to wear a mask in public if you can’t maintain a 6-foot distance – hard to imagine he couldn’t have foreseen this scenario, especially with his girlfriend wearing one right next to him.

Also, I used to give a pass to people who were obviously eating or drinking, while walking down the street which you can’t do through a mask. Then I thought, how hard would it be on you to go without your drink till you got where you were going? Is public health really less important than your immediate need to have a Snapple right now? I’ve been getting very cantankerous and curmudgeonly in my dotage.

      1. I don’t understand the thinking nowadays. We are not required to wear masks here in FL, but my husband and I do. We’re both older, we both have cancer, so yes, we will wear them. We were (masked) and looking at a package of disposable masks in our local Target. Guy comes up to us–I’m talking up close and personal–and says he’s heard that masks don’t really protect you. Then goes on to say he is an anesthesiologist who is out of work for now. He was no spring chicken, either. I looked at him and said, “We both have health conditions.” He said, “Oh, that’s a personal condition,” and moved on. So it seems there must be a reason to wear a mask in Florida. Common sense knows no age.
