We had a nice, almost Spring-like day at last. This couple were sitting on the benches enjoying the sun and agreed to have their picture taken to help celebrate the nice day.
Interesting old couple, It would be nice to know their life story. Who knows what it might be. I once took a portrait of an ordinary person I met in the street, it turned out talking to him afterwards that he had been a special forces operative in the 2nd world war and been body guard to Queen Elizabeth when she was in Kenya before she became queen.
To look at him you would never have expected it.
Yes – I wish I had the time to do this properly, spend time chatting with people, get to know them – I think the photographs would be far more meaningful that way, more personal and more true, in a way. Alas, I take most of my street photographs in the midst of rushing elsewhere so I am not as “present” as I’d like to be. There are many fascinating stories out there (like your Special Forces one) that I am sure I’m missing.
