A strange effect with the Sigma 19mm f2.8 lens on the Sony Nex-7. When it first comes out of sleep mode it seems to be in some super wide-open or over-exposure mode before settling down to a reasonable exposure based on the fixed shutter speed of 1/320th I was shooting at. This happens frequently when I go for a grab shot in the street after the camera’s gone to sleep. Here’s what I was able to recover from the file. Has an interesting hi-key effect with the bright orange shirt. There’s another of these coming up a couple of posts from now, I think.

I pulled up the other photo first and thought, “oh, this is an interesting effect.” Thanks for the explanation. I like it.
Thanks – yes, sometimes we can make something of our mistakes and accidents (sometimes, not).

I find the effect interesting, is it always happening or just sometime when it comes out of the sleep mode
Really just about every time it starts up. If I lift the camera to my eye I see it in the viewfinder for a split second before it meters and adjusts. On a grab shot I may not even get the camera that far, just point and shoot and this is what I get. I think I’ll be posting another one like it tomorrow or Sunday…
