It does look like an elevator but really it’s a static tree cage… meant to add some nature to the otherwise sterile and artificial steel-beamed structure? What were they thinking? Was that the architect’s original design or was the tree added as a later response by the people who were stuck living or working in the building?

Wow. A tree cage…who knew? What were they thinking is absolutely right. Now I really feel sorry for the trees.
