a Photo Blog, from swerve of shore to bend of bay, brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to dear dirty New York
Quo Vadis?
Brussels
This, like all the towns we visited in Belgium, is a cycling city. Broad streets provide fluid paths for pedestrians, cars, cyclists, and, increasingly, (electric) scooters. More to come on this subject,
Here in my town, there is so much discussion about reducing one street to one lane for a short distance to make it easier for bikers to merge. I think of having these people as my next-door neighbors and it makes my skin crawl. We’re not talking taking over the entire road, but that’s not how they see it. So much for the Golden Rule.
Wait till you see how many bikers there are in Belgium. And they seem less rule-bound about it… people seem to just sort of pay attention to each other and go on about their business.
