I posted a picture of this spot before, shot from 2nd Avenue. A beloved playground, managed by “Whitey,” it was a victim of the Second Avenue Subway construction.

    1. Yes, who knows, maybe someday, after they finish the oft-mooted extension, perhaps they’ll rebuild it. Whitey, however, is long gone.

        1. A lot of money was wasted over the decades it took to get it built with starts and stops, but it’s definitely been transformative for people on the upper east side. Now they’re talking about a Phase II extension up to 125th St so people in Harlem get to take advantage, too, and not just Wall St types.
