Cliffs of Seven Sisters in the fog. The people in some of these images will give some idea of the scale.

At the end of May we hiked across the Seven Sisters from the visitor centre to Birling Gap and back (about 7 miles, up and down). The day was extremely foggy so, while we didn’t really get great views of the cliffs, I did get lots of atmospheric shots.

We walked to the edge of town to see the chalk cliff that we had seen paintings of during a Brighton open studio tour.

The sea wall is made of chalk. We saw chalk drawings and writing all over and realized you could just pick up a chunk of chalk from where it had fallen from the wall and start drawing. (Click any image to see them all enlarged.)

While the web-site touts the panoramic views,
The 70-acre Hudson County park features … panoramic views of the Hackensack River and the vast Saw Mill Creek Wildlife Management Area. An expanse of 200-foot-high cliffs provides a stunning backdrop,
it also warns that, “for safety reasons, the cliffs are currently off-limits to the public.”
