The Recruiting Center was for the Army. The man was recruiting for Islam. He gave me a copy of the Quran.
He explained to me that with Jesus I’d have gold in heaven; without him, Hell is real. When I asked how he knew, he said it was in the Bible. When I asked how he knew the Bible was true he told me that Jesus came and gave him a big hug while he was “upstate.”
The modern harrowing of Hell.
This man used to walk up and down Broadway, between about 96th and 106th Street, shouting, “Hallelujah, Hallelujah…” over and over again or, sometimes, “Jesus loves you, Jesus loves you,” without cease. I have not seen him in a while, but this picture was taken in July, 2004.
