Flower Nap

I’m looking up at these blossoms but what I like about this image is, it almost looks like I’m shooting down at, say, lotus blossoms in a pond – a little bit of trompe l’oeil. It was glorious to finally enjoy a day of nice Spring weather.

A couple more floral still lifes from our lesson on depth of field with the Josephine Herrick Project class.

We took our Josephine Herrick Project NY Brain Injury group out to the Brooklyn Promenade for a lesson on depth of field and aperture and I came away with this one.

Still trying hard (and unsuccessfully) not to take pictures of the beautiful tulips everywhere.

So, I lied. Another one of the tulip shots I promised myself I wouldn’t take any more of.

December (2003) saw me on my first business trip to Australia. I had a lot of fun taking obligatory shots of the Sydney Opera and the harbor bridge and just walking the streets. I got a lot of very colorful shots of unfamiliar flowers in the Conservatory Gardens, which appear to have been helped along by some injudicious use of the contrast and saturation sliders, their history lost to my early Photoshop zeal.

My wife bought some tulips and they looked lovely in the window light. Nice shallow depth-of-field, too.
