Getting close to leaving Seattle.

Instead of paying close to $30 to go up the Space Needle, we climbed the spiral staircase in this water tower in Seattle’s Volunteer Park (designed by the firm of the sons of Frederick Law Olmstead, of Central Park fame.


Atop the Guinness Storehouse is the Gravity Bar, a glass enclosure providing views across Dublin

A friend who works downtown was able to let me up to the 64th floor of 1 World Trade Center for a project I’m working on. Even fro a jaded New Yorker like myself, the views take your breath away. More to come.


Seems like there are a lot of these types of pictures to take in the Bay area. Some fellow took a similar one from Tiburon.



We hiked the trail of the 1968 volcanic eruption at Arenal. You can see some of the lava at the bottom of the vertical panorama. You can also see some little puffs of gas escaping from the top of the volcano. Fortunately it didn’t blow while we were there.
Also, my daughter’s use of panorama mode on her iPhone reminded me I had the same mode on my camera.

This scene never ceases to draw my lens.
