According to Google image search this is a houseleek, another plant I don’t recall ever having seen before coming to Southern California.

We went up to Presidio Park and visited the Junipero Serra Museum (the Spanish Missionary who planted a cross here, declaring the lands in the name of Christ). Afterwards we walked around the Park and eventually descended the hill to Old Town.

In a Cactopus’s Garden (with no shade)
The cactus garden at Balboa Park is full of exotic looking cacti and other succulents that were new to me and looked exotic to my East Coast eyes.

I see these beautiful orange cones everywhere. Turns out they’re Aloe Vera.

These appear to be a popular local plant. They’re beautiful. Expect to see lots more of the local flora over the coming weeks which may look quotidian to Westerners but are exotic to me.

Election Day, USA – Go vote, if you haven’t already!
Contrasting the democratic power of the vote (today’s election day in the US) with royal autocracy, here are a couple of snaps of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion.
Victoria Garden
Farnham’s Victoria Garden is across the street from us here. During Heritage Week we joined a tour and talk at the garden giving it’s history (it used to be a public bathing pool). Although I’ve taken pictures here many times before, I took a documentary sample (see below) again on the day.
