Super Moon

seen from 92nd St and Central Park West, New York

Remarkable, at least to me, this was shot hand-held at 1/320th of a second (I’d forgotten I had been shooting in shutter priority mode earlier) at f2 and ISO 12,800. Of course, the image does lend itself to quite a bit of noise reduction.

My attempt to photograph the lunar eclipse a couple of weeks ago was thwarted by a few factors: I accidentally left my long lens at home; I didn’t use a cable or remote release and the moon spent most of the time hidden behind thick cloud. All the same I got a couple of halfway attractive night images.

Perigee Moon over the Atlantic

We had a perigee moon which I rushed to capture handheld. This is when the the full moon coincides with the moon being at it’s closest point to Earth (its perigee)
