from Leopold Bloom’s stream of consciousness in the Lotus Eaters chapter of Ulysses:
Lost it. Curse your noisy pugnose. Feels locked out of it. Paradise and the peri. Always happening like that. The very moment. Girl in Eustace street hallway. Monday was it settling her garter. Her friend covering the display of. Esprit de corps. Well, what are you gaping at?

At the time, I wished I had a longer lens to bring the clock tower closer but in retrospect I’m pleased with it as it is. It’s not the most exciting composition but I feel like the colors capture a certain New York mood.

More low light, dusk shooting, illuminated by the light from the stores

Some more examples of shooting in low light, hand-held at really high ISOs coming up in the next few posts. I love the way the cool tones of the night sky contrast with the warm tones of the street lights and the people. In spite of the noisy, over-softened images, it’s one of my favorite times to shoot.

With apologies to T. S. Eliot.
