Murmuration over the West Pier and an in-camera panorama from the sun going down to West Pier

As the i360 descended we caught a view of starlings gathering for their murmuration.

A view of West Pier I’ve not had before, looking at it from above, with reflections.

The i360 is located where the entrance to the old West Pier used to be and there is a replica of that entrance above. Looking out the café and gift shop window one looks straight at the ruins of West Pier.

The murmuration had not begun but the starlings were gathering (as were the gulls).

Walking home on a wintery afternoon we came to West Pier in a dusky light and stopped to see the starlings gather for their daily murmuration.

A painter was working on a medium sized canvas off to the left, with the pier columns prominent in the painting, forcing me to look again as we walked past the pier and notice, once more, how photographable it is in every different light.

Hard to see this and not want to take just one more picture in slightly different light…

The i360 is a tourist attraction offering views of Brighton, with a mirrored cafeteria at its base – I couldn’t resist taking a double selfie in its window even as I’ve resisted taking a ride in it for the 3 months we’ve been here. See the West Pier reflected in the background again.

After the solstice sun had set we walked back in the gloaming and saw the piers in the dusk-blue distance.

We have hardly ever seen waves of any size here. On this day, at the end of May, the wind was whipping them up.
