Wildflowers
Another walk along the North Downs Way. There’s always something new to see and we’ve never gone more than about 5 – 10 miles along its 153-mile course, all the way to Dover.

Hampstead Heath
We took a walk through Hampstead Heath and saw many pretty prospects (click the images to see them larger).
Some Purdy Flowers
All from the same walk along the North Downs Way and Moor Park to the Waverley Abbey. I have no idea what any of them are called.
Community Garden
From the Heugh
Next we wandered up to the Heugh, a rocky ledge that may hold the foundations of the earliest church on the site (7th century). The panorama below is a gigantic file, stitched together from 14 separate shots. If you enlarge it you can see incredible detail throughout.
Lindisfarne
Walking back from the boats and lobster pots we viewed the ruins of Lindisfarne a short way off. Click either picture below to see them larger.
Down by the Sea

Still Life
Finally, we made it off the Causeway and on to the Holy Island, proper. We stopped in a crowded coffee shop to warm up and eventually the couple sitting at the table in front of this window left and I was able to snap this still life.

These planters with sculptural plastic flowers in among the real flowers surrounded the base of one of Chicago’s iconic skyscrapers, the Hancock Building, if I rightly remember.
Flowerbox
A nice thing about Farnham is there are lots of flower boxes all over. I’m no sure who maintains them, I guess the council, but there’s always a profusion of colour everywhere you go. This box is on a little bridge over the River Wey about a block or two from my flat.
Streets of Edinburgh

The view from the top
At the summit of Arthur’s Seat I shot an in camera panoramic jpeg. Impossible not to include some of the hordes of tourists who had preceded us up the hill, laying waste to the grasses and other flora along the way. Tremendous views, though.
