I have heard that with the strange dislocations of Covid-19 more varied birds have been returning to the city. Several weeks ago I caught a bright red cardinal on a walk in Riverside Park and then last week this bluejay.

I have been reliably informed that the Anhinga stands with its wings open to dry in the sunlight as they lack the natural oils in their feathers that other aquatic birds do. I think this is the same Great Blue Heron as in a few posts ago, or the same mistaken identification.
