One day we took the train from Cardiff up to Newport where we caught a bus to Caerleon, home to several ancient Roman ruins and one of the primary claimants to be the site of Camelot. We first visited the Roman baths, which were fascinating, though I came away with few useful photographs, then made our way to a small museum, outside of which we visited the “Roman-inspired” garden where these pictures were taken.
We also made it to King Henry’s Mound from where you can see all the way to Windsor Castle in one direction and 10 miles to St Paul’s Cathedral (see pictures below).
Finally made it onto the new Second Avenue subway that they started building (for the first time – before they ran out of money) when I was a kid going to middle school and just opened at the beginning of the year. Here are a couple of details from the Chuck Close mosaics at the 86th Street station
