Warsaw Rising
We visited a museum dedicated to the Warsaw Rising of 1944 (not to be confused with the Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943, when the segregated Jews revolted). In this case, as the Germans retreated westward and the Russians advanced from the East, the people of Warsaw rose up. As usual, rather than photograph the objects in the museum, I focused my camera on the space and, of course, found a reflection of myself to photograph as well.

We visited the Warsaw Old Town, which appears to have been rebuilt after the war (1950s mostly, I think) chiefly for the tourist trade: very charming and old fashioned, with lots of restaurants and gift shops. I’ll be posting a bunch of touristy snaps over the next few days’ posts. Click on images below to see larger.
First Impressions
Warsaw, Glowing
I had to make a trip to Warsaw towards the end of May for an urgent family matter. Warszawa Głowna is Warsaw Main, a museum of Polish trains and transport. I didn’t know that at the time and just thought it apt that the Warsaw sunset was certainly “glowing.”
