On Monday, 22 May we did our first group walk of a bit over 8 miles, approaching Holywell Bay, then traversing The Kelsey Head, Porth Joke and West Pentire before circling back.

After Plymouth we drove down to St Agnes in Cornwall (well, I didn’t drive, but we did) for our next adventure. It was already early evening and we were tired. We walked down a steep hill to the sea for a quick look. Tomorrow (22nd of May, really), the real walking tour begins! Lyme Regis is on the Jurassic Coast, according to Wikipedia, “a World Heritage Site on the English Channel coast of southern England. It stretches from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset, a distance of about 96 miles (154Â km), and was inscribed on the World Heritage List in mid-December 2001.”

No place to go but down from Walla Crag, passing along the shore of the Derwent Water and through Manesty Park we eventually made it back to our hotel in Keswick.

A few of the colorful rock samples my daughter collected on our hike along the Undercliff Trail in Nelsonville last weekend.
December 2003, I took the train out from Sydney to Bronte beach then walked back along the beach to Bondi. The ocean has carved these incredible rock formations, poorly captured here, I’m afraid, by my Dimage A1. Digital cameras way back then really didn’t have tremendous dynamic range.
