The next morning we took a tour of a wind farm in the Coachella Valley. Our expert guide educated us on the history of wind farming, the Coachella Valley’s natural advantages, how windmills work and the equipment used to convert wind energy into electricity used on Southern California’s grid.

After Cap Rock we piled back into the car and you can see the near foreground motion blur in the first photo again. On the way back to Palm Springs we passed through a wind farm with snowy mountain backgrounds.

Approaching Cap Rock
Approaching the short Cap Rock trail in Joshua Tree National Park by car, I continued to shoot at 1/250th of a second yielding the same motion blurred foreground and sharp background. Processed using Fujifilm’s Velvia vivid landscape film profile on a cloudy day just before the late afternoon sun headed down.
