Long Term Couple

Farnham train station

My project of the final semester of the MFA has been about the relationship of long-term older couples. The current portfolio comprises pictures of my partner and me only, but I am considering branching out to add more couples and make it a more representative and documentary project. When I saw this couple kissing on the platform I asked them if I could photograph them. Unfortunately, the train pulled in just then so I only had time to grab this single shot and could learn no more about them.

Waverley Abbey

Waverley Abbey

When we got to the Abbey a guard informed us we couldn’t enter. Instead we walked up to the car park and along the river on the side we’d never been able to get to on previous visits, across a barricaded bridge to Waverley House. So we got some different views before decided we might be straying into trespassing.

Fog Pond

Badshot Lea Big Pond, Farnham

When I take the train to London, before even getting to Alderhsot, I always see beautiful bodies of water out the train window. Some weeks ago I resolved to go find them and photograph them. Of course, the train is elevated at this point, so I wasn’t sure I’d get the same view, and I wondered if I could get passed the obscuring treeline. Looking on the map, I found the Badshot Lea Big Pond was a walk of only a little over a couple of miles so we set off on the firs nice day. Unfortunately, when we got there, we discovered it was a private fishing club with no admittance and no real view through the shrubbery. Then, about a week later, a train ride to London on a foggy morning, at low speed, presented another opportunity (click the images below to see them larger).
